The group, of 10 members, decides on a contemporary issue of importance and interest to discuss. A member volunteers to introduce it at the next meeting, which gives the others time to do some homework on it should they wish.

The first hour of the next meeting is devoted to that issue.

The following hour is open to a discussion of any topical matter that any member wishes to raise.

Usually several are raised and discussed. There is a sense of setting the world to rights but, unhappily, that is beyond the scope of the group.
