We meet to learn and develop our skills in this fascinating game. It is often thought that mahjong is a very difficult game to play. In fact, it is like a card game except you use tiles and build walls - experiencing it is the only way. Our group play a Hong Kong Chinese version of mahjong, this has reduced the number of combinations from the Western version often played by ex-pats and has a scoring system that is more simple.

Our enthusiasm as a group has led to the following:
- Social festive lunches arranged around play at Xmas, Easter and summer
- Creative talents. One member has hand-embroidered several tablecloths to match individual Mah Jong sets.
- A few members also play, calling in Chinese.
- Members have volunteered to pass on their skills to set up a group playing at the main library in Shrewsbury.
