French Conversation 1 is a friendly group made up mostly of members with “rusty O‑level” French who want to rebuild confidence and enjoy speaking the language again. We do our best to stay disciplined and keep the conversation in French throughout the meeting, with plenty of good humour along the way.

We usually begin with general conversation to get everyone talking, then move on to reading and translating an article, tackling a short text, or playing a word‑based game to stretch our vocabulary. Sessions are relaxed but purposeful, and there’s always support if you get stuck.

We finish with coffee and biscuits — still in French if we can manage it — making it a sociable and enjoyable way to keep language skills alive.
